Funny Meme About Getting Alpo Instead of Steak
Are you ready for "Fat Tuesday"??? TheseMardi Gras Munchies are the perfect dessert treat to munch on! If you are having a Mardi Gras party then you need to make these scrumptious sweet and salty dessert snacks. All you need is ROLO's, waffle pretzels and M&M's. This will probably be the easiest dessert you can make for Mardi Gras!
Heat your oven, place your pretzels on a baking sheet and put a Rolo on top of each one. Next they go on the oven for 3-5 minutes. Pull them out and let sit for 1-2 minutes then place the M&M's on top. Let them cool completely then enjoy! I was having a hard time waiting for them to cool so I put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes 🙂 I really wanted to taste test one and it was REALLY, REALLY good! With 1 bag of Rolo's I was able to make 50 Mardi Gras Munchies.

Servings: 50 pieces
- waffle pretzels or small pretzels
- 1 pkg of ROLO Chewy Caramels
- green purple and yellow M&M's (I used the Easter bag)
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
Line cookie sheet with parchment paper if desired.
-
Place pretzels on cookie sheet.
-
Top each pretzel with one unwrapped Rolo.
-
Bake 3-5 minutes (you just want the chocolate to be soft - you don't want the caramel to be coming out of it).
-
Let cool for 1-2 minutes and then place 1 M&M in the center of the Rolo.
-
Let cool completely before serving (to help them harden faster you can place in the freezer).

I have been dying to try Cauliflower Pizza! I keep hearing it is so good and when my friend Christy made this pizza it pushed me over to the ready to give it the plunge! Cauliflower Pizza just sounds strange doesn't it? She promises me it is delicious so I am going to give her recipe a try. If you are eating low carb or Ketogenic (Keto) this Cauliflower Pizza Keto Friendly is for you.
If you are eating Paleo you will want to not use the cheese or you can try Daiya brand non dairy cheese. I think it would be delicious either way!
Her tips for success: The crust is very thin so be sure to use a full head of cauliflower or even add some coconut flour. If you are looking for a gluten free and low carb healthy pizza alternative then Cauliflower Pizza is a great choice for you! The best thing is you can add as many or as few toppings as you want! This can easily be a fabulous vegetarian dish too!

Scoop out another ½ cup and place in another bowl.
In one bowl, add green food coloring and stir until you get desired color. In the other bowl, add red and blue food coloring and stir until you get the desired purple color.
Next you fill the cupcake liners with even amounts of each colored batter until about ⅔ full. Bake in oven according to package directions.
Once done baking let the Tie Dye Mardi Gras Cupcakes cool. When ready to decorate you can use sprinkles or colored coconut. I did some of both and the coconut added a great flavor! I also used my recipe Homemade Cream Cheese Frosting.

A Mardi Gras celebration is not complete without a colorful ring shaped pastry with a surprise inside! Everyone will enjoy the fun of this festive and delicious Mardi Gras King Cake.
Drizzled with icing, sprinkled with green, gold, and purple sugar sprinkles, this yummy cake also features a secret surprise - a little plastic toy baby baked into the pastry! Pick the piece with the toy baby inside, and you're crowned king or queen of the party! It is fun to present the King or Queen with a crown when they find it!
Mardi Gras King Cake is similar to coffee cake. A sweet bread that is perfect for dessert! To hide the toy baby into the cake, insert it into the cake while it is slightly warm from baking. The icing and sugar crystals should cover where you inserted it. Be cautious when serving a King Cake to young children.
Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday.
The king cake tradition began in France in the 19th century, and honors the Christian story of the three kings traveling with gifts for the Christ child. The cake's three colors represent justice (purple), faith (green), and power (gold). The cake's shape symbolizes the unity of all Christians as well as the shape of a king's crown.
Before plastic toy babies, bakers added coins or whole pecans to bring wealth, luck, and to pick the Mardi Gras king and queen. Today people of all faiths enjoy king cakes between Twelfth Night (Epiphany) and Mardi Gras. We hope you have fun if you choose to bake a Mardi Gras King Cake. Our family loved it!
Mardi Gras King Cake Recipe
Mardi Gras Kings Cake Recipe - No Fat Tuesday Celebration is complete without it!
Servings: 8
Pastry:
- 1 cup milk
- ¼ cup butter unsalted
- 2 .25 ounce packages active dry yeast
- ⅔ cup warm water must be warm to activate the yeast
- ½ cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 ½ teaspoons salt
- ½ teaspoon nutmeg
- 5 ½ cups all-purpose flour
Filling:
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- ½ cup all-purpose flour
- ½ cup melted butter
Icing:
- 1 cup confectioners powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon water
- Yellow Green and Purple Sprinkles
-
Scald milk, remove from heat and stir in ¼ cup of butter. Allow mixture to cool to room temperature.
-
In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in the warm water with 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes.
-
When yeast mixture is bubbling, add the cooled milk mixture. Whisk in the eggs. Stir in the remaining granulated sugar, salt and nutmeg.
-
Beat the flour into the milk/egg mixture 1 cup at a time. When the dough has pulled together, turn it out onto a lightly floured surface and knead until smooth and elastic, about 8 to 10 minutes.
-
Lightly oil a large bowl, place the dough in the bowl and turn to coat with oil. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let rise in a warm place until doubled in volume, about 2 hours. When risen, punch down and divide dough in half.
-
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
-
Grease 2 cookie sheets or line with parchment paper.
-
To Make Filling: Combine the brown sugar, ground cinnamon and ½ cup flour. Pour ½ cup melted butter over the cinnamon mixture and mix until crumbly.
-
Roll dough halves out into large rectangles (approximately 10x16 inches or so). Sprinkle the filling evenly over the dough and roll up each half tightly like a jelly roll, beginning at the wide side (you want it to be a vertical roll).
-
Bring the ends of each roll together to form 2 oval shaped rings. Place each ring on a greased cookie sheet.
-
With scissors make cuts ⅓ of the way through the rings at 1 inch intervals. Let rise in a warm spot until doubled in size, about 45 minutes.
-
Bake in preheated oven for 30 minutes.
-
Push the doll into the bottom of the cake.
-
Frost while warm with the icing and then decorate with green, purple and yellow sugar sprinkles.

If you can't travel to New Orleans to enjoy the festivities, bring the festivities to you! You can make your own Mardi Gras Party Banner that is packed with the color and charm Mardi Gras has to offer. Take a peek below at how to craft your very own, perfect for adding a pop of color to your Mardi Gras parties and celebrations!
Mardi Gras is French for Fat Tuesday, referring to the practice of the last night of eating richer, fatty foods before the ritual fasting of the Lenten season, which begins on Ash Wednesday.
Mardi Gras Party Banner:
Supplies needed:
Mardi Gras mask napkins
Scrap ribbon
Foil masks
Hot glue, glue gun
We were able to find the package of napkins we used for this project at Hobby Lobby. Print or show the mobile 40% off coupon and you can score a package of them for around $1. The foil masks can be found at your local dollar store for $1 per package of six. If you have some leftover curling ribbon from Christmas, you can make this entire banner for around $2. Now that is worth celebrating!
Mardi Gras Party Banner Directions:
1. Begin by laying your ribbon out flat on the floor. This will make it easier to apply the décor.
2. Unfold a napkin and place a strip of glue along the inside seam. Fold the napkin over the ribbon and press.
3. Add a strip of glue to the backside/top of each foil mask. Press the mask to the ribbon.
4. Continue this process alternating napkins and masks until the banner is the length of your choice.
When you are done, hang your banner for instant Mardi Gras flare! It is the perfect décor piece if you are looking for something that is just as festive as it is frugal.
Gather your supplies and give this easy craft a try. Mardi Gras will be here before you know it, so be ready with this Mardi Gras party banner!

Meatloaf 101 Recipe
Meatloaf 101 is an easy meatloaf recipe that tastes amazing!
Servings: 6 people
Cost: $8
- 2 lb of ground beef or mixtures of ground beef, ground turkey and/or ground pork
- 2 large eggs
- ½ medium onion chopped
- 1 Cup bread crumbs or dry uncooked oatmeal
- 2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 Cup ketchup
-
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
-
Put the ground meat, eggs, chopped onions, bread crumbs/oats, Worcestershire sauce and ½ cup of the ketchup into a large bowl.
-
Mix all ingredients together (Some people try to do this with a large paddle spoon, but I just smash everything together using one hand, keeping the other hand clean so I can add more bread crumbs or oats, if necessary - the mixture should be firm, so it will stick together while baking, but not stiff.
-
While the mixture is still in the bowl, begin shaping it into one or two oblong "loaves."
-
Put the loaf or loaves into the prepared baking pan.
-
Top the loaf/loaves with the rest of the ketchup.
-
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 75 minutes.
-
Remove from oven and immediately take your meatloaf out of the pan and place on plate.
-
Allow the meatloaf to cool for five minutes before slicing.
-
Serve and enjoy.

Have you ever wanted to know how to make Homemade Pesto? I did because I love cooking with it! It is actually easy to prepare with this easy recipe.
I used my own fresh basil leaves that I grew in my herb garden. I added fresh garlic, pine nuts, olive oil and few other ingredients and had the most amazing fresh homemade pesto.
This recipe is also naturally gluten free. After you prepare the recipe simply store it in an airtight container and place it in your refrigerator. It will last for several weeks if you don't eat it right away. I have several of my favorite pesto recipes linked after the recipe too!

We recently went to lunch at our local Applebees and I was happy with the gluten free menu. There is not a printed gluten free menu available at the hostess station but when I asked our waitress she went into the back and got one for me.
I had the Savory Cedar Salmon which comes with the herb potatoes and spinach and it was delish! This was also a low calorie menu choice. I was really pleased with how tasty it was to be low fat. Our waitress was familiar with Celiac Disease and gluten allergies so it was nice to feel comfortable with my choices.
Of course there is no guarantee when you are dinging out in terms of cross contamination but she made me feel really comfortable because she mentioned they used a special uncontaminated pan to prepare my food. I liked that they had a large variety including Appetizers too!
I snapped a picture of the Applebees Gluten Free Menu for you too! Not only does it include the Wheat/Gluten allergens but all of the major allergens including dairy, eggs, soy, shellfish, fish and nuts! You can view the entire gluten free menu online.
